Hildene
The Manchester, Vermont summer estate of Robert Todd Lincoln, the only
surviving child of President Abraham Lincoln. This beautiful
mansion is open for tours and is on our list of "must see" sites in
Manchester. Don't miss the fantastic view of the valley
from the beautiful gardens. Walking trails are
available. Many special programs and events throughout
the year. Guests of the North Shire Motel can receive
discounted tickets (limited quantities) - just ask at our
registration desk.
Southern
Vermont Arts Center
Vermont's oldest year-round cultural resource located on West Road
in Manchester, Vermont. We have discount tickets
available for admission to the Art Gallery and exhibits in
the Elizabeth de C. Wilson Museum.
Equinox Skyline Drive
Entrance is located just 1/2 mile south of the North Shire Motel.
At 3,848 feet above sea level
the summit offers fantastic views of Vermont, New York,
Massachusetts and New Hampshire. You'll be able to see
the Green, White, Adirondack, Berkshire and Taconic mountain ranges.
At the summit, take the short hike to Lookout Rock for a picturesque
view of the town of Manchester, Vermont.
American
Museum of Fly Fishing
Beautiful new location in Manchester Village, Vermont - next to the
Orvis flagship store. The American Museum of Fly Fishing has
many interesting displays documenting the history of fly fishing.
Anyone with an interest in history will find this a worthwhile stop.
Canoeing on the Battenkill
Just a half mile from the North Shire Motel, park your car and rent
a canoe for a day on the Battenkill. Canoe down the
Battenkill through beautiful Manchester, Sunderland and Arlington,
Vermont. They'll pick you up at the end of your
trip and transport you back to your car.
Reservations are suggested during peak seasons.
Backroad Discovery Tours
Tour some of the lesser known back roads of Southern Vermont.
You'll learn some of the history and enjoy spectacular scenery.
