  • Hi Tim, This is just a note to tell you how pleased we were staying at your motel last Friday (12/28).  My wife and I very much enjoyed the conversation with you in the lounge.  You truly made us feel like guests, not just someone you rented a unit to.  I met Kerry in the morning when I went to get coffee, and a cinnamon roll that I had heard so much about.  The roll was excellent, and Kerry was very pleasant.  A___ has back problems, told me that the bed was very comfortable and was hoping you could tell us what kind of mattress you use.  We definitely plan to stay at The North Shire again.

  • Dear Tim, Just a quick note to thank you and Kerry for the great welcome we had at the North Shire Motel.  We really had a great time the room was warm, cozy and spotlessly clean.  The motel lounge was great and an ideal place to unwind after a hard day on the slopes at Bromley.  The board games and video collection mean that the kids were always happy in the evenings.  We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast particularly the fantastic home cooked cinnamon rolls which set us all up for a hard days skiing.  The service both prior to and after our arrival from the Innkeepers Tim & Kerry was excellent and is really appreciated.  All in all I would thoroughly recommend the North Shire Motel to anyone that wants to sample the Vermont good life on a low budget.  Hope to see you next year.   David, from Wales, United Kingdom
     
  • [Letter from AAA]   We recently received a nice compliment about your establishment.  According to our member "We recently stayed at a recommended AAA motel in Vermont.  While there we had some serious car problems and were without transportation and unable to check out as planned.  We are very grateful to Kerry and Tim Walker, our hosts, for their kind help and compassion during our stay.  It is so unusual to find such wonderful caring people and they went out of their way to help us until the car was repaired.  I might also add that the motel was spotless and comfortable.  It was obvious that they take pride in their premises and care for the people who stay there.  We really appreciate everything they did for us and will highly recommend this motel to everyone.  This motel deserved 5 diamonds, at least."

Rooms are clean and tidy, there's a terrific little pool up on a shady corner of the spacious yard, and each room has a breathtaking view across a sweeping lawn to the mountains of Vermont. The summer breeze here is a tonic, and genuine quiet prevails -- although you might catch the bleating of one of the sheep that graze at the bottom of the hill! A weekend here with dinner at the fabulous Chantecleer restaurant a few miles north of town is our idea of time well spent in this part of New England."

  • This place is amazing!!... tranquil location with beautiful grounds, friendly owners and a great breakfast. Although they call it a 'motel' the decor and enhancements make it more like a country inn..just with the privacy of a motel.  Rates are more reasonable than other comparable properties in the area... we will never stay anywhere else when we visit southern VT than the North Shire.

  • We just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your motel the weekend of July 20th. We had found your listing on the Manchester Chamber of Commerce website. Your listing was very detailed and we were able to get a very clear picture of what your motel would be like. We could be confident that we would like it there and we were correct. But we were pleasantly surprised that we liked it even better than we expected! The rooms were extremely comfortable -  cool, light and airy even though it was a very hot weekend. The beds were wonderful and we both slept extremely well. Although this may sound silly to you, we especially liked the fact that the sheets were very soft and stayed neatly tucked in!  In most motels the sheets are very stiff and rough and the bottom sheet always comes out and wrinkles up underneath you during the night. This was the very first time we both had a good night's sleep in a motel. It was also an added bonus to have a refrigerator in the room. We found it very handy to keep our sodas cool for our picnics at Emerald Lake. The pool was very nice and we liked the fact that it felt secluded and private. It wasn't located right out in plain sight of everyone passing by. The continental breakfast you provided was great, also. It was ample and satisfying. And the best part of all for us was the fact that even though our parents stayed at the (motel name deleted) and paid twice as much, we felt that we were staying at the better motel! So thank you very much! We had a great time at your motel and we will certainly highly recommend you to friends and family.
